TechCrunch reported on 1st Feb., leading UK public transport provider Go-Ahead Plc. is collaborating with blockchain startup DOVU to start tokenized reward system for rail customers.

Listed on the FTSE 250 – an index of the 101st to 350th biggest companies listed on the London Stock Exchange – Go Ahead provides over one billion bus and rail journeys in the UK every year. Also being the biggest bus service operator in London, the Group’s services operator in London, the Group’s services account for around 30% of all U.K. train passenger journeys.

DOVU is all set to launch its blockchain-powered reward system which uses an ERC-20 token, DOV – on Go – Ahead’s widely-used Southern Rail and Thameslink services. The blockchain-based incentivization scheme will reward members for sharing their trip data, with a focus on the first and last leg of commuters’ journeys.

Krasina Mileva, COO, and co-founder of DOVU has suggested the tokenized system will provide Go-Ahead with “actionable data that can raise efficiencies and enhance services.”

Beside promoting data sharing, the platform will be used to reward commuters with tokens for changes to their travel behavior however the exact nature of such changes is not shown in DOVU’s post.

The new collaboration follows on from DOVU’s participation as a finalist in Go-Ahead’s accelerator scheme The Billion Journey Project which concentrates on developing innovative proofs-of-concept and scale solutions for the transport industry.

DOVU has earlier collaborated with major automobile manufacturer BMW on a tokenized rewards system that supports drivers to track mileage on their rented vehicles.
