As per the announcement, Switzerland will host the Swiss Blockchain Hackathon later this year in an effort to help companies find real-life applications of blockchain technology.
The three-day event will be organized by Switzerland’s six leading IT and blockchain organizations – CV Labs, Trust Square, Crypto Valley Association (CVA), Bitcoin Association Switzerland, swissICT and Swiss Blockchain Federation – and will take place from 21st June to 23rd June 2019.
According to the announcement, the hackathon is designed to promote the deployment of blockchain tech across a wide range of industry sectors and help find the technology’s tangible applications and business models. The event intends to draw around 200 industry players both from Switzerland and other nations.
Switzerland has placed itself as a digital currency and blockchain-friendly nation, with its global hub for virtual currencies known as the ‘Crypto Valley‘ in the canton of Zug. As per the annual ‘state of European Tech’ report from technology investment firm Atomico, the ‘Crypto Valley’ was ranked the fasted growing community in Europe.
Recently, the president of Crypto Valley Association (CVA), Mr. Daniel Haudenschild, stated that “we need a change in our laws and [sic] that needs more interaction with lawmakers and regulators. We need to make Switzerland open and easy for companies to invest in blockchain-related projects.”
