Argentinian State Public Transport Card Accepts Bitcoin

As per cointelegraph Spanish report, Argentina’s state transport card SUBE (Sistema Único de Boleto Electrónico) is now accepting Bitcoin.

Alto Viaje, a platform for adding money to SUBE cards, has collaborated with Bitex, which provides blockchain-driven financial services to businesses. As a result of the collaboration, the SUBE card can now be funded using bitcoin, via Alto Viaje’s website.

CMO of Bitex, Mr. Manuel Beaudroit, who stated that SUBE that can be utilized to travel by bus, train, and subway is used by over seven million people in 37 locations in Argentina. He clarified that Alto Viaje has earlier worked with Rapipago, an Argentinian digital payments system, and PayPal.

Mr. Beaudroit, further clarified that the main aim of the collaboration is to provide people with broader access to “such a revolutionary technology, like Bitcoin (BTC).”

The technology provider behind SUBE is Argentina’s Nacion Servicios S.A., a subsidiary of Banco de la Nación Argentina, the country’s national bank.

As reported by Cryptofame earlier, major U.K. public transport provider Go-Ahead Group Plc. has lately collaborated with blockchain startup DOVU to start a tokenized rewards system for rail customers. After the agreement, DOVU will launch a platform, which uses a native ERC-20 token, DOV, to reward members for sharing their travel data.
